The third generation of the controversial Healbe GoBe callorie counting wearable has received FCC approval. The wearable comes with a radical new look.

To remind, Healbe GoBe is the only wearable that claims it has the ability to automatically count calorie intake. “Tell it nothing, track everything” is its motto.

The original wearable appeared on Indiegogo back in 2014. The device captured the public’s imagination and managed to raise more than $1 million dollars via the crowdfunding platform. Some thought it was a scam, some disputed the technology, but in the end Healbe did deliver a product.

It followed this up in 2018 with GoBe2. The calorie tracking function was still there but, unlike the earlier generation, you didn’t need to let the wearable know when you have eaten. Everything is tracked automatically for you. It also came with design improvements and some additional sensors.

We actually put it to the test and found that while we couldn’t vouch for the science, in the end calorie tracking accuracy was somewhere between 80-85%. You can read our full review on this link. One of our gripes with the product was its bulkiness. To put it mildly, the thing is quite large.

Well, it seems Healbe has addressed this concern. The new tracker can be seen pictured below. It looks like a proper smartwatch rather than the unwieldy, blocky-looking thing of the past. Nicely done Healbe.

The third version seems to have the same, or perhaps an upgraded version of the same sensors.

Following its CES debut in 2019, the wearable has received FCC certification at the start of this month. A few days later version 2.0 of the accompanying smartphone app was released with support for the new version of the device – GoBe3. All this implies the launch should happen soon.

The smartphone app has also received a design revamp so the interface is more user-friendly and attractive. Other changes include faster synchronisation, connecting with Gobe now happens automatically when you launch the app, and an overall faster and more reliable experience.

As they say, watch this space. We hope to get our hands on GoBe3 once its out and post a full review.
